Imagine our surprise next morning when well-known T.V. personality and presenter Sue Lawley arrived at our Exmouth premises with the troublesome piece of equipment in hand. The laptop had suddenly failed to boot up after years of reliable use and, to cap it all, was full of research information for forthcoming editions of Desert Island Disks and other programmes that Sue was preparing. Unfortunately the material had not all been backed up so the situation was potentially serious!
A quick examination established that there was probably a mechanical fault preventing the disk from spinning up and there was a high probability that the data on the hard drive was not affected and could be recovered. RockTech Associates are not experts in laptop computers and , because of the importance of the data, we decided to consult a specialist laptop service organisation. The recommended organisation used was A.D.P. Notebook Solutions of Biggleswade. They handle repairs on behalf of Compaq, Toshiba, Olivetti, Texas Instruments and Acer.
The organisation was contacted and gave a fixed price quote for the collection, diagnosis and return of the laptop. Obviously if significant extra work is diagnosed there may be additional costs. However the system was collected on time and four days later was returned directly to Sue in full working order and with no additional charges. The service was truly excellent.
